I am considering going career Navy as an officer and I eventually want to work my way up to becoming a Captain of a large vessel. Now what is the best type of officer to be to accomplish this in the shortest amount of time? Also would it be possible to do aviation until a certain rank and then transfer over to something more related to Captaining a ship?

Oh and for the shorts any bermuda shorts is fine just in khaki or navy but it cant have patched pockets (like most jeans do) and no designs and has to be knee length!

I actually measured my waist size and the pants waist and I am 29 inches around but the 29W pants were actually 31inches. Of course, I had to go return them. I was wondering if Old Navy has a bad measuring tape or if they do it on purpose to make people feel skinny. Either way, not a good practice IMO.
