How can a guy dress up shorts?

navy shorts
Neb asked:

I bought three shorts today.

1. Pleated. Navy.

2. Pleated. Tan.

3. Cargo. Light Gray.

They reach just an inch below the knee when worn below the waist, right on the knee when above it. So what can I wear to look stylish in them without looking to dressy?

I don’t think you have to worry about looking too dressy while wearing shorts. Wear them so that they hit right on your knee (or even just a bit above it). You can try and add in a short or long-sleeved collared shirt (anything from a polo to a button-down) and avoid tennis shoes. If you’re looking to dress down, just go with a t-shirt and wear the shorts however low you want. :)

you can wear them baggy with a plain colerd t shirt like black or white hope i helped =]]

Maybe some solid color tanks or tees with sandals or sneakers.

Since these are neutral colors I suggest some Polo’s in bright colors like canary yellow or tangerine. You could try a pastel/argyle sweater vest- very preppy. The point is to look polished so no loose belts or chains or things like that. Shoes also make the man so if you’re not going too dressy how about checkered vans.

You can try wearing knee-high-ish socks to add a little flair to the outfit.
Like for the tan shorts a black socks can look pretty cool.
To make it look even more stylish, pair it with a coloured v-neck.
Or wear a white v-neck with the cargo shorts.
That would look very good (:
A lot of the time just wearing a cool pair of sunglasses can make any outfit look better.
    Especially during the summer.

Wear some sort of polo with it ;)

ask these questions at Shopert Opinion where there are an expert fashion community there.

But I would personally wear some nice low top sneakers with no or low socks. Slim polo shirts will most likely go well with it too.

Get a crisp white polo (not from Aeropostale…Lacoste and Ralph Lauren have the good stuff), you can even pop the collar (if you want). But the short sleeves will keep it casual, unlike with a collared button-down shirt. This shirt will go with all your shorts, so it’s a good investment, but you can try other colors as well:

For shoes, boat style type shoes or tennis shoes are best because they’re classic but not exactly dress shoes. A leather shoe would go nicely with all these shorts – again, a good investment.

You can also just wear regular flip flops if you don’t want to go so dressy – they will work well too. Just stay away from bulky sneakers.

Oh, and you can add a leather belt if you want, too. Just tuck your polo in a little bit at the front so you can see the buckle.
