MondoBongo asked:

I’m a girl and I need to get my hair cut for boot camp. I don’t want them to do it cause I’m sure they will just hack it off and it’ll look terrible. So, how short does it really have to be? Inches wise? Can I have bangs? Can my mother bring me a hair piece (bun) so I can put it under my hat for graduation or is that a big no-no?

for graduation, I think you can have the hair piece. I don’t think your hair has to be that short if you are a girl. I think they aim to get it so that it isn’t impractical (ie, can be tied up out of the way very easily) . It is generally cut to the bottom of the collar.

I don’t know about having bangs. There were very few women when I was in Cadets, and they were both very butch, and had short short hair before hand.

I would get it cut short before you go, because when you are there they wont care about styling it, ands will do it very quick. Get it cut short, and how you want it, and then you don’t have to worry!

High and Tight like GI Jane…ha ha ha…no seriously…I think collar length is acceptable without having to put it up. Anything past that it has to be under the hat and in a bun.

You will need to cut your hair to the top of your collar. You can sell your long hair at: before you ship out.
