i am curious if the navy offers this. i know the coast guard will waive you 5 points on the asvab if there is a particular job your interested in but you fall slightly short. does the navy do this?

You’d be amazed what your recruiter can do to get you enlisted. Talk to your recruiter but make sure that the job you want is guaranteed before you ship out, that way you don’t get stuck with some horrible job once you finish up your basic training.

It depends on how desperate they are to fill slots. You have to go talk to the recruiter.

  • PUMABACK says:

I think they do, but it’s been over thirty years since I took the test.

only in EXTREMELY rare cases for an EXTREMELY undermanned rating that is in great need.

In this day and age.. almost no chance. while the Navy does have some ratings that are undermanned, the standards are not being waived. In fact, for CTI, one of the most needed at this time, they will NOT even waive one point off the DLAB. you must score high enough to qualify for a Cat iv language, period.
