Jason asked:

A recruiter told me if I went active I could walk away from my house and this would not mess up any clearence that I might need because there is a program to help sailors get out of the loan if they get moved. Is there any truth to this. I might go active if I can do this and not mess up my chance of get a good Rate.

The Soldier/Sailors Civil Relief Act was designed to protect service members while on active duty. However, actively walking away from a comittment is a little different. The act states you can get your job back after 4 yrs active duty, get relief from some debts etc. Actively walking away from a comitment (like a mortgage) reflects on character judgement and could have a negative affect on security clearance and job selection.

patently false. only VERY specific criteria meet this and enlisting is not one of them.
